Irene by Greg LaVoi Winter 2013 Fashion Show
My family, friends and I really enjoyed Saturday’s fashion show event, launching Greg LaVoi’s new line of Autumn/Winter 2013 designs – Irene by Greg LaVoi. Fashion shows are something my great-aunt was accustomed to, but I did not know what to expect. I have never attended one before. This new experience was very exciting. My mother would have really enjoyed being a part of it and it probably would have brought back some fond memories for her. My mother attended many of Irene’s fashion shows back in the day. The fun started after we checked in, got ourselves a yummy cocktail and watched folks walk the red carpet. Greg spotted us, and after big welcomes and hugs, he grabbed my hand and took me over to the red carpet. He said I should have...

Many other special guests, including Irene, were there to celebrate the event. In this first photo here, Irene and my mother – Karyn – stand together, both looking so elegant. My mother’s wedding gown was designed by Irene. You can read more about “Irene’s favorite dress..” here. It’s gorgeous. Back in ’87, when I...

In 2012, we saw the passing of mom. Karyn, my mother, and Irene’s niece had a full life with lots of love around her, right up until the end, and she passed on peacefully when the time came. I was going through some of Irene’s newspaper clippings and thought it would be nice to share a few that pertained to my mom. In this article “Gowned by Designer Aunt, Karyn Lentz Recites Vows”; the author described the gown that Irene designed for my mom when she married my father Donald. It was 3 p.m. Saturday, July 12th 1958. “An exquisite wedding gown created by her famous designer aunt, Irene, worn by Karyn Irene Lentz for her nuptial ceremony with Donald Charles Jr…” “… Her bridal gown of...

This article was originally published by Herald Examiner Staff Writer Betty Goodwin, in the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, Thursday May 20th, 1976. I scanned the paper, but the text was difficult to read, so I retyped it here for you to enjoy fully. I think the sentiments in the article still ring true today.. just as Irene’s designs are adored as eternal classics as much today as they were at the time of this printing.. and always.
