Actress Irene compared to Gloria Swanson
I have scanned several old Newspaper pages and clippings that Irene kept. This is one of the earliest ones. Though there’s no photo of Irene on the page, the author – (Ogden, I believe) – mentions Irene as “one of the new girls” on the scene and a “potential Gloria Swanson”. He goes on to say how Irene cares for her two brothers (my grandfather and grand-uncle) and that she won a Los Angeles Beauty Contest a couple of years prior to her start as an actress. I do not know the date of this article unfortunately, but I’m guessing it was around 1920.

Irene is my grand-aunt, and admired for her work in women's fashion and Hollywood costume design. Her talent as a successful clothing designer in Los Angeles led to her long career as a costume designer for many great films in Hollywood.. until her sudden death in 1962. I hope you enjoy your visit.. ~ Karlyn
