Invite to Irene by Greg LaVoi

Invite to Irene by Greg LaVoi

We are so excited about this upcoming event honoring Irene and celebrating Greg LaVoi’s new fashion line inspired by Irene Lentz – Irene by Greg LaVoi! This is a fashion show, introducing these designs and hopefully the first of many more to come. I imagine my great-aunt Irene with a huge smile on her face, admiring the thoughtful respect, skill that has gone behind this undertaking. It will be so exciting to be a part of this event witness the honoring of Irene’s legacy after all these years. I wish my mother and grandmother could be part of this celebration, but that was not meant to be. I plan to celebrate for them however. More news about this to come, and join us on Facebook to stay updated with the most recent Irene updates from across...

Irene Online 8-19-11

Irene Online 8-19-11

Every once in a while, I like to do a re-cap of some of the many places I’ve come across online, that feature, or at least highlight Irene Lentz and her designs. This is not a full list by any means.. rather, some of my personal choices at this particular time. More, quality features will be shared in future posts. I do this, because it’s a delightful thing, to see Irene’s designs being talked about, written about, worn by today’s actresses, and revered by today’s designers. Irene’s style remains classic, but timeless… as seen here: Url: http://cinebeats.blogsome.com/category/costume-design/ Author: Kimberly Lindbergs Excerpt: “About six or seven years ago something strange happened. It all started when I...

New Design for Irene

New Design for Irene

Life hurls by and time continues to escape me. You know what I mean. I’ve been busy,  and regretfully not posting as much as I would like to. As summer ends and I return to the grind (work and school), I know it won’t be easy… but, I am hopeful that this year finds me posting more than ever. April 2012 will mark three year’s since Irene Lentz was born again, as a domain name on the wide world web. Three Years! It was definitely time to focus on a fresh, new, yet classic look, for Irene. I found exactly what I wanted with elegantthemes.com. I admire Nick’s work at ET, all high quality, great detail, wordpress themes, and I’ve found a few over the past year that I’ve incorporated into several of my sites. I hope, that as...

Angelina Jolie’s Irene inspired fashion in “The Tourist”

Angelina Jolie’s Irene inspired fashion in “The Tourist”

Academy Award-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood looked to classic film noir glamour for inspiration in clothing Angelina Jolie’s character – Elise’s – costumes. “That look was inspired by a dress designed by Irene [Lentz], who is a legendary costume designer,” Atwood says. “I took the basic idea and added some flair to contemporize it. The original had a jacket, but I really wanted something a little more luxurious, so I created the cashmere wrap. I’ve always loved a glove, and was filming in the land of fine gloves, so I used a fine suede glove to finish the look.” Read the full article on People Magazine.. Wearing Vintage Irenes on The Closer

Wearing Vintage Irenes on The Closer

It’s wonderful to see the beautiful Kyra Sedgwick, who plays Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson on TNT’s hit show The Closer, dressed in Irene’s suits. Kyra wears them wonderfully! Designer, Greg LaVoi, has been dressing Kyra in Irenes for some time now and has built up quite a nice collection from what I hear. I have been invited to come down to the studio to view this collection and I’m so excited! So Tuesday, I’m headed off to Hollywood! I have been enjoying Greg’s blog files at TNT for a while now and so look forward to meeting Greg in person. I hope to take some photos that I can share with you here next week. Meanwhile, head on over to TNT’s “The Closer” site, to read up on Greg’s Fashion Files where...

Winifred’s Irene Collection

On occasion; I receive emails from Irene fans and collectors. What a joy to get these notes and read what others appreciate most from Irene’s work. Sometimes, folks will share memories of how they, a parent or grandparent knew Irene, worked with Irene or know of her work. Sometimes they will share photographs of their personal collection of Irene’s designs. Winifred is one such woman I’ve had the pleasure of communicating with recently. Winifred lives near Chicago, is working toward her fashion merchandising degree and enjoys sharing her love of vintage garments with others, especially her young daughter, who apparently already started a vintage jewelry collection of her own. How fun! Many thanks to Winifred for sharing her sweet sentiments with...
