Oh I’m so glad I found this site! My costume design obsession was always Edith Head until I started to watch movies costumed by Irene, the great Irene. Thanks for sharing all these wonderful stories and images with us She was an extraordinary designer.

Karlyn: Yes, Irene seems to be at her best in the photo, and how wonderfully she relates to the style of the Florentine Mannerist painting by Bronzino behind her. The sitter was certainly fashionable as was Irene. I bet she like other Bronzino portaits too. Tomas

Hello Mary, Thank you for the update. It’s been about a year ago now since I saw the building as well. I agree that it appears unchanged from decades ago. It’s more the landscape around it that’s changed. I wish I could see a view of the way it looked inside at the time that Irene used the building. I have not been able to locate any pictures of the interior though.

Went by IRENE, INC on Hayden. The building is still there and virtually unchanged. A PR firm leases it now.
