On the red carpet with Irene

An Irene gown was recently walked down the red carpet, by the talented Parker Posey, at the Costume Designers Guild Awards. The dress is gorgeous!

The Fashion blog of The Recessionista shares this news, along with wonderful photos and information of other red carpet starlets who have worn Irene’s designs from the role in the movie that Irene dressed them for, to the stage where they received their Oscar.

On the red carpet with Irene Irene was nominated for the Oscar on a couple of occasions, but did not win it.

Many years later however, at the 7th Annual Costume Designer’s Guild Awards (2005), Irene was awarded into the Hall of fame.

Irene’s sketch for Marlene Dietrich

Irene sketch for Marlene Dietrich My thanks to Bret for sharing this wonderful press photo of an Irene sketch for Marlene Dietrich from “The Lady Is Willing” – 1942.

The back of the sketch reads:

"An unusually chic town suit, designed by Irene, is worn by Marlene Dietrich in Columbia picture “The Lady Is Willing.” Black silk bengaline is the fabric, cut with a narrow skirt and flared peplum jacket, it embodies the high style notes of the season. A vest of white bugle beads adds further elegance to the costume. (MARLENE DIETRICH #13)
